Welcome to this Product Training Module for Amphenol SV Microwave Shielded Edge Launch PCB Connectors. These SMPM male PCB edge launch connectors in high-density, noise-sensitive applications.

SV Microwave offers Shielded Edge Launch PCB Connectors in 1, 2, and 4 port SMPM designs, with a 0.142 inch centerline spacing on multiport versions. These provide connectivity for signals up to 40 gigahertz, while providing excellent shielding effectiveness and 70 dB minimum crosstalk suppression at 30 gigahertz, maximizing signal integrity in noisy environments. The connectors feature a robust gold-plated stainless steel body with mounting pegs to ensure a secure fit and proper alignment during assembly.

Smooth bore variants offer a low insertion force and high mating cycle rating for easier installation and longer life in applications that change more frequently. Full detent variants provide a more secure connection option with a higher withdrawal force. The connectors have a 325 volt RMS withstand voltage and can operate from negative 65 to positive 165 degrees Celsius.

The differentiating element of this series is the addition of a cap or lid that covers the solder termination of the connector. This is in contrast to conventional edge launch connectors, which simply have the signal termination between two ground terminations. The conventional approach can provide effective isolation and adequate signal integrity in many applications. However, with increasing density and frequency and decreasing voltage, this conventional approach can expose signals to too much noise and crosstalk.

The EMI shielding structure implemented in Amphenol SV Microwave Shielded Edge Launch PCB Connectors prevents signals from interfering with each other or from being exposed to EMI from external sources. This eliminates the use of conductive and liquid gaskets while providing clear crosstalk isolation, which is critical in sensitive electronics.
