Welcome to this Product Training Module for Hammond Manufacturing 1556 Series Plastic Enclosures for housing PCBs and other small electronics in indoor applications.

The 1556 Series is designed with a more modern look than traditional enclosures. It’s available in black, white, or gray with a light satin texture and the external design incorporates rounded corners and a rounded face, offering a more visually appealing aesthetic to match with many current custom enclosure design trends.

The 1556 series is available in square and rectangular sizes ranging from 80 by 80 millimeters to 200 by 200 millimeter, with heights ranging from 45 to 70 millimeters. Internally, the enclosures feature multiple mounting locations inside both the base and the lid for easy and flexible PCB mounting. Optional aluminum inner panels are available for all sizes and can be attached to these mounting locations, providing a rigid base that can be drilled, cut, and otherwise customized to the needs of the application.

Environmental protection is provided through lap joint construction that provides an IP54 rating, protecting against dust and splashing water. The lid is secured by installing the included self-tapping Plastite screws into the pre-molded screw posts. The enclosures are molded from a flame-retardant ABS plastic that meets UL 94 V-0 requirements.

The 1556 Series offers multiple mounting options for installation flexibility. Every enclosure includes 4 rubber feet that can be installed into molded recesses on the base to provide stability when placed on a tabletop or other horizontal surface.

Hammond also offers mounting feet for each enclosure color. These can be installed in recesses in the base for flush wall mounting, or they can be installed around the edge of the base for use as heavy-duty wall flange mount.

Pole mount brackets are also available. The 1556 series is intended for indoor use only, so these can be used to attach to poles or other supports in industrial and commercial spaces. Hammond also offers extensive enclosure modification services, reducing time and total cost by delivering enclosures modified to your specifications. This can include holes, cutouts, UV printing, special colors, and more.
