Infineon PSOC™ Edge E84 AI Evaluation Kit - Unboxing | DigiKey

We take a look at the PSOC™ Edge E84 AI Evaluation Kit from Infineon. It features secure high performance and low-power ML-accelerated cores, enabling rapid prototyping for AI and ML edge applications.

Inside the box, you’ll find the PSOC Edge E84 AI board, which features the PSOC Edge E84 MCU with a Cortex-M55 + Helium DSP, Ethos-U55 microNPU, a Cortex-M33 MCU and NNLite accelerator. The kit also includes a camera module and quick start guide with QR code for a quick start guide to get started.

In this demo, we’re going to run the pre-programmed voice assistant, which uses Infineon DEEPCRAFT(TM) models to detect wake words and natural language commands.

Install the camera module on the board, even though we aren’t using it in this demo. Connect to the J1 USB-C connector, open a serial terminal, connect to the kit’s COM port, set the baud rate to 115,200 , and press the black reset button on the board.

You’ll see the list of pre-programmed demos. Press 1 for voice assistant and you’ll see the wake word listed as Okay Infineon, and then a list of commands that control the green LED on the board. For example: Okay Infineon, turn on the light.

In the terminal, you can see it detected the wake word, the command as spoken, and the intent of the command. Let’s try a few more: Okay Infineon, dim the light to 50 percent.

Okay Infineon, make the light brighter. Okay Infineon, toggle the light.
