Microchip Motor Control low-voltage 48 volt, 300 watt inverter board - Unboxing | DigiKey
We take a look at the Motor Control low-voltage 48 volt, 300 watt inverter board from Microchip, enabling rapid prototyping of motor control applications with a variety of Microchip controllers. Inside the box, you’ll find the inverter board, a micro USB cable, and a screwdriver. In this demo we’re going to use the inverter board with a dsPIC33CK DSC control board to drive a PMSM motor using sensorless FOC. Plug the control board into the DIM connector on the inverter board. Connect the 3-phase wires from the motor to connector J4. Order isn’t important. Connect the PICkit On Board to your PC using the J16 micro USB port, and plug in a 24 volt power supply to J1 or J3. Then follow the instructions to program the demo firmware. Once the board is programmed, SW1 starts and stops the motor. The potentiometer adjusts the speed and SW2 switches between nominal and max speed ranges. In MPLAB X IDE, we can open the X2C-Scope plugin to plot different variables. Open the plugin, select the project, set the serial port settings, connect to the board, set the sample time, then open scope view. Then we can add the phase currents as our sources, click sample, and see the measured phase currents.
