Welcome to this Product Training Module for Molex MX-DaSH Wire-to-Wire Connector System. MX-DaSH is a modular automotive connector system that combines high-speed data, signal, and power in one connector, consolidating multiple stand-alone connector and reducing package space.

MX-DaSH is available as sealed or unsealed designs with up to 31 circuits plus data, including 10 + 2-Way, 10 + 1 + 1-Way, 15 + 1-Way, 22 + 1-Way, and 31 + 1-Way configurations. Each of these configurations meets various USCAR, IEC, and customer-specific requirements, addressing a broad range of applications.

For high-speed data the connectors use High-Speed FAKRA-Mini, or HFM, and High-Speed Modular Twisted-Pair Data, or HMT-D. These coaxial interfaces enable data rates up to 25 gigabits per second.

The power and signal circuits use 0.50, 0.64, 1.20, 1.50, 2.80, and 4.80 millimeter terminals, supporting wire sizes from 0.35 to 2.5 square millimeters and current up to 15.9 amps.

The system is designed for operation at 12 volts and a maximum voltage of 250 volts.

This consolidation supports compact ECU and zonal-architecture connectivity and eliminates the need for stand-alone single-circuit data connections.

MX-DaSH connectors are designed for the environmental and electrical challenges present in automotive applications. They feature an independent secondary lock to secure terminals with a 100 newton retention force. They also have mechanical keying and various housing colors to ensure proper assembly.

The connectors can operate from negative 40 to positive 85 or 120 degrees Celsius, can withstand high vibration levels, and have 100 megaohm insulation resistance. Sealed versions are IP69K rated to tolerate high-pressure washing, with 50 kilopascals minimum sealing initially and 30 kilopascals minimum after endurance testing.

By consolidating power, signal, and high-speed data into a single, automotive grade connector, MX-DaSH enables the elimination of multiple traditional connectors. This provides the flexibility to reuse the connectors across multiple platforms, reducing validation effort. It also allows for wire layout optimization for additional flexibility and manufacturability. In one example of an instrument panel and body control harness and module, MX-DaSH decreases the number of connectors from 8 down to 2, reduces plugging operation time by approximately 75 percent, and reduces copper wiring by approximately 6.0 meters. This reduces weight, size and cost while also simplifying assembly.

MX-DaSH supports the transition to zonal architecture by providing power, signal, and data connectivity in one compact connector suitable for tough automotive conditions. This combination is becoming more important as vehicles integrate more sensing, compute, cameras, displays and networking to support autonomous driving, ADAS, infotainment, and other advanced systems that improve safety, comfort, and convenience.
