Analog Devices ADEMA127 Evaluation Board - Unboxing | DigiKey
We take a look at the ADEMA127 evaluation board from Analog Devices. It provides 7 simultaneously sampling ADC channels and is designed for polyphase or split-phase energy metering. Inside the box, you’ll find the ADEMA127 evaluation board, a controller board, and 4 current transformers. In this demo we’re going to connect to the board using ADI’s ACE software, which we can use to configure the ADEMA127 and capture measurement data. Before beginning, you need to install the USB to UART bridge drivers, ACE, and the board and chip plugins for ADEMA127. You also may need to update the firmware on the control board. Details are in the Github repo. Plug the controller board into the ADEMA127 evaluation board and connect your PC to the control board’s micro USB port. Connect the current transformers to the terminal blocks, and plug voltage probes into the banana jacks. In ACE, click the add hardware button, and add a serial port with a 921600 baud rate. You can find the port number in device manager and in my case it’s COM8. Click OK and you should see the EVAL-ADEMA127 appear in a few seconds. If not, you may need to press the reset button on the control board. Double click the board and you’ll see a system view including the burden resistors for the current transformers, the attenuation for the voltage probe inputs, and the filters. Double click on the ADEMA127 and you can see and modify the settings for each channel. Then click proceed to analysis. Here you can run once or run continuously to gather data. I’ll run once and you can see the result from my probe attached to a simulated 50 hertz source.
